What to Expect

Ladakh plateau is located above 3000 m if your reaching by flight you need at least one day full day for acclimatization you can walk on arrival day and explore the main market of Leh. Keeping hydrated is very important while in Ladakh. Ladakh has number of hotels ranging from budget to luxury. Summer is the season for traveling to Ladakh and Zanskar. There are some winter trek circuits like frozen river trail of Zanskar River and Chadar Trek and witness the frozen waterfall. The temperature in winter lies between -15° – 2° C and peak summer ranges from 30° to 10° C.

  • Extreme weather the saying that if you are in shade you will get frostbite and in sunshine you can get sunburn at the same time because of thin atmosphere which results into high amount of UV radiation.
  • Avoid alcohol intake as your body may find it to adopt due oxygen insufficiency.
  • Acclimatization is very important and its must to avoid high altitude mountain sickness.
  • Pack you heavy winter clothes even if you are in summer the night is always very colder.
  • Respect the sanctity of the local. Do not spoil the eco system.
  • Ladakh administration has also banned production, stockpiling, distribution, sale & use of Polythene carry bags with thickness less than 120 microns.
  • The locals always very polite and expect the same from any visitor. Respect the privacy of locals and be a good tourist.
  • Before photography take the permission of the people there are people who don’t like to be clicked. Do not take the picture of military installation or any sensitive place.
  • Night travel or walking can be really amazing you can even view the milky star galaxy due to clear sky.

Day 01: Arrive at Leh Airport 3505 meters / 11567 feet.

Arrive at Kushok Bakula airport Leh – 3500m above sea level. Transfer to hotel, the first half of the day will be for acclimatization. After Lunch drive to nearby places and Visit Shanti Stupa & Leh Palace, later in the evening walk around local market. Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel in Leh.

Day 02:Sham Valley Tour

After breakfast leave for the full day sightseeing of Indus & Zanskar river Sangam, drive along the Indus river visiting, Pathar Sahib Gurdwara and Magnetic Hill -where the cars defy gravity Spituk Monastery -The site of Spituk was blessed by the Arhat Nyimagung and Hall of Fame-which has a museum of the Kargil War memorabilia. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Leh.

Day 03: Leh – Khardungla Pass 18380 Ft. – Nubra Valley and Hundur – Drive 130 Kms 4/5hr.

After breakfast drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla-Highest Motorable road in the World, (18,380 ft). Arrive at Hundur by the afternoon. Post lunch free to explore Deskit Monastery, Hunder Villages and camel Safari in Sand Dunes between Deskit and Hunder Village. Overnight stay at the camp

Day 04: Nubra/Hunder – Panamik (Hot Spring) – Sumur Village – Nubra 65 km

Morning after breakfast leave for day tour to Panamik & Sumur Village, The top tourist attraction in Panamik is the hot springs. While there are other famous hot water springs across the country, for example, Bakreshwar in West Bengal & Manikaran, this is the only “hot springs village” in India. The hot spring water in Panamik contains high amounts of Sulphur, and is believed to possess a lot of medicinal properties. A lot of tourists, and locals, take a dip in the water, despite its being quite hot, as it is said to cure skin diseases & rheumatism. Sumur is a small village and a popular base for exploring the valley. At an elevation of just 3,100m, it’s one of the lowest points in Ladakh, and you can feel the difference. Especially after going over the Khardung La pass -where giddiness temporarily sets in, you will personally find it far easier to breathe in the valley compared to the Leh.

Day 05: Nubra/Hunder Nubra – Turtuk – Hunder/Nubra 90 km (Last Village of India)

Morning after breakfast Leave from Nubra Valley towards to Turtuk Village. A remote village of about 4,000 residents, inhabited by ethnic Muslims, a few kilometres from the ‘line of control’ (the de facto border) between India and Pakistan on the Indian side. Until 1971 a part of Baltistan, shared strong economic and cultural ties with Tibet. The residents speak Baltistani, and some Ladakhi and English. By late evening return to Nubra Valley for overnight Stay.

Day 06: Nubra Valley – Pangong Lake it is the highest land locked lake (180 Kms on way from Leh 06/08 Hrs drive

Early morning after breakfast we leave for Pangong Lake via Wari La/Shyok route Pangong Lake, situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m). A long narrow basin of inland drainage, hardly six to seven kilometers at its widest point and over 130km long, it is bisected by the international border between India and China. A few years back the government decided to open it to tourists though the lake and its surrounding is under army surveillance. Enjoy the landscape in the back drop of the Lake. One rarely feels so close to nature and environment and the scenery is unforgettable, overnight stay at the camp

Day 07: Pangong Lake – Leh (150 Kms 5 Hrs Drive)

After Breakfast drive back to Leh En-route visit Thiksey Monastery. Later Walk around Leh Market, Overnight stay at Hotel.
