What to Expect

The route is one of the most favourite among the highly motivated trekkers and need good level of fitness as it is located in the base of Worlds Third Highest peak.  The level of the trek can be categorised as experienced most strenuous trek. Below are some of the suggestions to keep in mind before going for this trek.

  • Accommodation in hotels in Gangtok and Lachen. Rest will be in tented accommodation.
  • All meals will be served along with tea and snacks.
  • Packed light lunch of high carbohydrate will be offered during trekking.
  • An experienced mountaineer will be escorting you throughout the trek with cook.
  • Yak/Porters for team rations, luggage, equipment’s and limited weight luggage for the guest.
  • First Aid Medical kit.
  • Vehicle used will be Tata Sumo/Mahindra Bolero.
  • Accommodation during trekking will be in A shape Alpine Tent.
  • The level of Trekking is most treacherous and required to be perfect in health conditions.
  • You will require strenuous and rigorous exercises particularly at high altitude.
  • Before going for this trek, we strongly suggest to go for moderate trek to check your ability of going for this trek.

Things to Carry:

  • Good quality backpack with rain cover. Not less than 70 ltr
  • Walking stick, good Quality light weight water bottle.
  • Torch or head light.
  • Good number of Light cotton cloths, Thermal inner, Fleece Jacket, Down feather or holofill jackets, Wind and waterproof jackets, Trekking Paints, Woollen caps, Scarf, good quality gloves.
  • Good quality trekking shoes with very good grip, Sandals/flippers, Cottion and Woollen socks
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, moisturizer, hand sanitizer, toilet papers, antibacterial powder, lip balm, toothbrush and toothpaste
Day 01: Arrival Bagdogra-Gangtok (Surface 125 kms/5 hours)

Upon arrival at Bagdogra you will be assisted at the airport and transferred to Gangtok for night stay.

Day 02: BGangtok-Lachen-2900 m (125 kms/4-5 hours)

In the early morning leave for Lachen upon arrival you will check into the Homestay/hotel/Guest House for night stay. Lachen literally means “big Pass” and is one of the most tourists attracted place in Sikkim. The Lachen is base for Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. Upon arrival check into the prebooked accommodation facilities. Later visit to Lachen Monastery. Yumthang Valley is also accessible through 2 days trek and if interested you can short trek from here. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03: Lachen- Tallem (13 kms Trek & Drive takes about 6 to 7 hours)

After an early breakfast leave for Zema Bridge and from here you will trek for about 5-6 hours route passes through many bridges and rivers along the bank of Zemu river and reach to Tallem. Upon arrival your night stay will be in a village space inside the tent.

Day 04: Tallem-Jakthang 3430 m (5-6 hours of trek)

After an early morning rise trek till Shobuk and then steep trek leads to you’re the day destination. Upon arrival you will be served with tea and snacks and retire for the day under the tented accommodation.

Day 05: Jakthang-Yabuk 4040 m (4-5 hours trek)

This morning rise with great sunrise view on the distant snow-capped peak trek begins and you trek through forest and local bridges over Thombak Stream. Post his you will be descending till Zemu River further more trekking through ups and downs you reach to your destination Yabuk. Overnight in tents.

Day 06: Yabuk-Rest Camp 4725 (4-5 hours trek)

After early morning breakfast you will be trekking though rough terrain full of stones, pebbles and boulders on the way you will be accompanied by the stunning view of Mt Siniolchu 6892 m and Mt Simvo 6811 m. Reach to Rest camp and retire for the day.

Day 07: Rest Camp-Green Lake (4935 m and 4 hours trek)

After breakfast the day will be a rewarding trek as you will reach to your point and will be greeted by the beautiful pictures Lake setting. The beginning will be little uncomfortable and as you reach to higher points your views of surroundings will enhance and you will be finally reach to the Green Lake. The day will be spent near the lake. Overnight tents.

Day 08: Rest Camp-Green Lake (4935 m and 4 hours trek)

The day will be at your disposal the place will entertain you. You need to show your photography skills over here choosing a great point for shoots. Spent you day admiring the views of mighty Himalayas. Overnight stay at tent.

Day 09 to 11: Green Lake-Lachen (Return journey as followed during onward journey

Day 12: Lachen-Gangtok

After breakfast leave for Gangtok upon arrival hotel check in. Evening explores the city and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 13: Gangtok Bagdogra Departure

After breakfast you will be leaving for Bagdogra Airport with the memories of exciting trekking in Sikkim.
