The Ganga Sagar is the most popular religious haven on this planet particularly for Hindu across the globe. The Ganga Sagar fair is the second most popular and attended fair of the world after Kumbh Mela.

The Ganga Sagar can be reached by cruise and by car and boat from Kolkata once you arrived at Ferry Ghat called Hardwood Point from here one can take ferry for ganga Sagar Island. Post darshan and snan at the holi confluence return to Kolkata.

In Kolkata or as we know is called ‘The City Of joy’ there are many attractions like Victoria Memorial, Botanical Garden not to miss the landmark Howrah bridge and of course Dakshineshwar Kali Temple situated at the eastern bank of Hooghly River is dedicated to Maa Kali Goddess otherwise known as Adi Shakti Kalika, Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Ma Sarada Devi has been associated with this temple.

What to Expect

There is a semi luxury cruise operating from Kolkata Millelium Park Jetty to Ganga Sagar Kachuberia ferry Ghat which includes of lunch which is available for Saturday and Sunday. The condition is minimum 50% of passenger capacity is required. The services and prices are not valid during Mela time, peak period or seasonal rush. If you are opting to stay 1 night in Ganga Sagar Island its is advisable to book well in advance due to limitation getting rooms there is difficult particularly during season time. You can extend the tour and explore the Suderban National Park which is formed due to confluence of Ganges and Brahmaputra in Bay of Bengal another 2-3 days is sufficient.

  • The price is not valid during peak season, Mela, hotel demand surge time and seasonal rush.
  • The prices vary from Individual to group bookings.
  • Cruise travel from Harwood to Ganga Sagar is also available on demand preferably for group of 25+.
  • This is tirth sthan and not a luxury palace having luxury facilities. You need to be patience while traveling for darshan.
  • The guide on demand is available at an extra cost.
  • Price negotiation is always there in case if you are traveling individual. In group of 30+ our guide will take care of everything.
  • How to reach Ganga Sagar as there are many ways the possible best according to us is to take car or bus and leave Kolkata by 7 AM and reach Harwood Point near Kakdwip the point from where you will get the ferry. The distance from Kolkata to Harwood is around 90 kms. If you are coming from park your car will be parked here (For Same Day excursion Trip) you will have to reach the point called Lot no 8 from here the you will take the ferry for Sagar Island which fees very nominal ₹ 10. The frequency of the ferry is 45-50 minutes reach Kachuberia on the Island but you need to cross the whole Island to reach the confluence point of Ganga with Bay of Bengal. It will take around 40 mins to reach Kachuberia. From landing point of Kachuberia one can take shared jeep or local bus which will take another 50 minutes to reach the confluence. If in group of 5-6 persons its always advisable to hire private jeep/car which will charge around ₹ 1500 for to and fro. The car/jeep will be parked near to Kapil Muni which is just 200 meter from parking lot. From Parking lot you can take rickshaws take you to Confluence of Ganga with ocean take Holi Dip and then visit to Kapil Muni temple which is 700 meter from confluence point. The process takes around 2-2.5 hours return to Kachuberia to board the ferry for back to Kolkata. The last ferry for Harwood Point is 8 pm so better plan accordingly.
  • Best season is winter season from October to March.

Day 01: Kolkata City / Hotel to Ganga Sagar

Pick up guest from Kolkata at 8:00 AM drive for Ganga Sagar-An island in the confluence of river Ganga & embayment of Bengal which is advised to be a great devout significance and Holy Dip. You will be dropped at Harwood Point Lot no 8 from here you will take the boat to cross the Muriganga River for Kachuberia. Upon arrival at Kachuberia take private car or E-rickshaw or any vehicle and reach the Island of Ganga Sagar. From here you need to walk of almost a km or you can take sharing vehicles till Kapil Muni Ashram. Evening your own activities (Suggested Places: Sea Beach, Sunset View, Local Forest visiting by Walking, New Build Iskcon Temple, Bharat Sevahram, Omkarnath, GBDA Park, Samshan Kali Mandir, Kapi Sarovar, Sandhyarati Darshan) and Dinner and night stay at Ganga Sagar.

Day 02: Ganga Sagar to City / Hotel drop (3:00 PM)

Morning takes a dip at confluence of significant point of River and Sagar and return to your accommodation after breakfast at 8:00 AM Check Out from Ganga Sagar Hotel and start exploring Sagar Island visit Manasadevi Temple, Nag Sarovar, Ramkrishna Mission, Gosto Mandir, Banuban, Light House and transfer to the Ferry point from their you return to the point of boarding at Harwood Point. Our car will pick up and transfer to the hotel of Kolkata. Upon arrival hotel check in. Overnight hotel.

Day 03: Kolkata full day sightseeing

After breakfast leave for sightseeing points include Howrah Bridge (drive Pass), Belur Math, Dakshineshwar Temple, Eden Garden (Drive Pass), Victoria Memorial Hal, Botanical Garden. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 04: Kolkata-Howrah Railway station/Airport drop

After breakfast check out on time and transfer to Railway station or Airport for onward journey.
