What to Expect

For those who would like to add on some real adrenaline adventure guests have a choice of popular adventure activities in Meghalaya they are ziplining, rappelling, waterfall rappelling, canyoning, freshwater scuba diving, paddling, caving, and good-old-fashioned camping. The best seasons for water-related activities are post-monsoon and winter. Camping is an all-year activities depending on the campsite and accessibility of your route, although for those who have limited experience in the outdoors it is recommended that you avoid the ferocious monsoon season. One should not forget that Meghalaya literally means ‘the above of cloud’ the living root bridge famous word over is located inside remote and one has to walk around 3500 steps one way the trek route is slippery particularly during rainy days. The trek is known as Nongriat Trek as the living root bridge is located in Nongriat Village.

  • Observe local traditions and customs especially while visiting religious places. Contact your nearest Tourist office or your hotel for guidance.
  • Always enter a temple, mosque, tomb, dargah or gurudwara without shoes on and properly dressed. One should cover his/her head with a cloth while in a Gurudwara or Dargah.
  • Keep identity card/passport with yourself while travelling.
  • Take care of proper disposal of your bio degradable/ non degradable waste while you are exploring Himalayas or anywhere else.
  • Stop at Government emporiums. Prices are reasonable and quality assured.
  • Homestay can be an educative experience as you will came across many local stories and believes.
  • Go for early morning scenic sightseeing as during those the weather will be clear soon after 12 pm the cloud will cover the sky.
  • Never go to close to the cliff or any stone watch from safe distance.
  • Do not go for swimming in the river its always very risky the water can rise any time.
  • Please maintain sanctity of the local people respect their culture and ethics. Do not litter and damage the ecosystem the system is very fragile. Protect it for generations to generations.
  • To learn and understand about the local tribes one must visit to local museum.
  • Meghalaya is perhaps the safest state and they are very friendly people including for women.
  • Mawlyngbna is an adventure seeker delight but with limited accommodation.
  • Always keep valid ID car with you. Recommended things to carry is Umbrella or Rain coat, Torch, Power Bank.
  • Summer is average and winter is colder. So, take Wollen clothes if visiting in winter season.
  • You will ATM only in Shillong elsewhere you can’t hence keep cash accordingly.
  • Hotels or Resorts of Shillong is not cheap hence you need to spend a little more compare to regular tourist circuit.
  • Don’t encourage beggars.
  • Don’t buy articles made from rare or endangered species or animals. Antiques more than 100 years old may not be purchased.
  • Do not leave your cash and valuables in your hotel rooms. Keep your cash divided in different pockets.
  • Do not carry any prohibited substance covered under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
  • Females may not be photographed without their consent.
Day 01: Guwahati arrival at Airport/Railway station

Upon arrival in the morning meet by our assistance and transfer to the hotel. Later after check in quickly proceed for Kamakhya Devi Darshan. Later in the evening during sun set take sunset boat cruise in the Brahmaputra River. Later retire for the day. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02:Guwahati-Shillong (100 kms)

After sumptuous breakfast check out and leave for Shillong the paradise un explored and known as “Scotland of East”. On the way you will see beautiful picturesque Uniam lake locally known as Borapani. Upon arrival hotel check in. Overnight stay hotel at Shillong.

Day 03: Shillong

After breakfast leave for sightseeing of Shillong. Shillong is undulating pine covered hills, the city has a milder climate than tropical India. The city center is 1496m above sea level and currently has a population of around 270,000. Home to several waterfalls, it is also known as the Scotland of the East. The British legacy is still visible in the architecture and food habits of the population. Explore Shillong and visit to Shillong View Point, Don Bosco Museum-India’s largest indigenous museum dedicated to tribes, Police Bazar is a must place for some great snacks or windows shopping’s, Ward’s Lake A pristine artificial lake and Air Force Museum where you can see the pictures and models of Indo-China War of 1962 and Indo-Pak war. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 04: Shillong -Cherrapunjee (Shora)-Shillong (108 kms round trip)

Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Cherrapunjee.

Cherrapunjee now officially known as Sohra in Meghalaya held the title of the world’s wettest place for its incredible rainfall. The town of Cherrapunjee is nestled in the East Khasi Hills about 50 km southwest of the state’s capital, Shillong. Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra or Churra, means ‘the land of oranges. The cliffs of Cherrapunjee also offer stunning views of the plains of Bangladesh.

Visit to Seven Sister Falls, Nahkhalikai Falls, Mawsmai Cave and Eco – park.

Back to Shillong en route visit Elephanta Falls. Overnight stay at Shillong.

Day 05: Shillong-Mawlynnong & Dawki-Shillong (190 kms round trip)

After breakfast proceed for Mawlynnong. This little colourful village is known for its cleanliness. Explore the Root Bridge and Natural Balancing Rock. Also, visit Dawki, located near the India-Bangladesh border, is famous for the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Boating on the Umngot River is a surreal experience as you can see the riverbed through the transparent water, making it a popular destination for tourists seeking tranquility and natural beauty. Back to Shillong. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 06: Shillong-Guwahati (100 kms)

After breakfast leave for Guwahati upon arrival you will be transferred to Airport or Railway station for onward journey.
