What to Expect

Besides scenic beauties there are lots to do like shopping, adventure activities like skiing, Paragliding, Rafting, trekking, home stay, hot water spring of Manikaran and Taptapani, the lakes etc. There are hotels of luxury category and price request can be made for the same. It not that tough to find a good shop in any of the tourist destinations. There are certain  golden rules to follow when you visit to any hill station the below are some of the few guidelines which you can follow:

  • Observe local traditions and customs especially while visiting religious places. Contact your nearest Tourist office or your hotel for guidance.
  • Always enter a temple, mosque, tomb, dargah or gurudwara without shoes on and properly dressed. One should cover his/her head with a cloth while in a Gurudwara or Dargah.
  • Keep identity card/passport with yourself while travelling.
  • Himachal has a wide range of weather conditions. Most areas of Bilaspur, Una, Solan, Sirmour, Hamirpur and Kangra are largely warm to hot in summer, and mild to pleasant in winter. The district of Chamba, Kinnaur, Kullu, Shimla and Lahaul and Spiti are mild to pleasant in summer and cold in winter. Do check the type of clothing and other equipment you may require for the region you are visiting.
  • Take care of proper disposal of your bio degradable/ non degradable waste while you are exploring Himalayas or anywhere else.
  • Dispose all litter carefully. The use of plastic bags is banned in Himachal.
  • Stop at Government emporiums. Prices are reasonable and quality assured.
  • Don’t stand at the edge of cliff or on the bolder near the bank of river for photographs etc. The current of the river in Himachal Pradesh is very strong.
  • Don’t leave non – biodegradable litter behind. Polythene is banned in Himachal under Non-Biodegradable Garbage (Control) Act of 1995.
  • Don’t encourage beggars.
  • Don’t buy articles made from rare or endangered species or animals. Antiques more than 100 years old may not be purchased.
  • Do not leave your cash and valuables in your hotel rooms. Keep your cash divided in different pockets.
  • Do not carry any prohibited substance covered under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
  • Females may not be photographed without their consent.
Day 01: Pathankot Railway Station- Dharamshala (90 kms)

Arrival at Pathankot by overnight Train, pick up from Railway station & drive to Dharamshala for approx. 2 hours. Check in at your hotel and day for rest or explore at your own.

Dharamshala stands at the foot of Dhauladhar and has a magnificent view of snowy peaks, deodar and pine forests, tea gardens and beautiful hills. Picturesque Dharamsala, built on a spur of the Dhauladhar range, commands splendid view of the surrounding country. While Lower Dharamsala (1,250 m) is the busy commercial area with government buildings, the bazar and the bus stand, Upper Dharamsala (1,982 m) has suburbs with evocative names like Forsythganj and Macleodganj that are quite fascinating the residence of His Holiness Dalai Lama. Day 02: Dharamashala sightseeing

The Abode of Dalai Lama. Some of the attractions includes a must include in your itinerary. The Kangra Art Museum is located south of Lower Dharamsala tourist office. It has miniature paintings from the Kangra School of Art, which prospered in the Kangra. The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, housed in the Central Administration compound at the southern end of McLeod Ganj, has one of the world’s most comprehensive collections of original Tibetan manuscripts. Day 03: Dharamshala – Dalhousie (120 kms)

After breakfast drive to Dalhousie a pleasant scenic driving crisscrossing lakes and waterfalls. Dalhousie is one of the popular hill stations of Himachal Pradesh in the Chamba Valley its surrounded by lush green pines, deodars, Oaks and rhododendron forest. Reach Dalhousie arrival at your hotel check in relax at the comfort of your room or simply scroll around the quaint market. Some of the most famous attractions are Satdhara and Barkota hills at an altitude of 2030 meters. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Dalhousie – Khajjiar (20 kms one way)

After breakfast drive to Khajjiar which is an hour drive through dense forest. This is a small town located in the beautiful Chamba Valley. It lies midway between Dalhousie and Chamba and is a perfect stopover for the tourists. Fenced by the tall Deodar trees, Khajjiar is nestled well in the laps of Himalayas. Khajjiar is famous for the ancient, 12th century, golden-domed temple of Khajinag.

Other attractions are The Lake in the rolling green turf is a small lake. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05: Khajjiar- Chamba- Dalhousie (77 kms)

After breakfast full day tour of Chamba town. Chamba originated in 6th century AD and is one of the oldest princely states. It is situated on the right side of the river Ravi. Located in the beautiful valley, surrounded by the Shivalik ranges, Chamba also has the district headquarters. It is famous for its medieval temples and Chaugan, a public promenade. The architecture of the buildings of Chamba reflects the artistic taste of its former rulers. Chamba is also famous for its local festivals. There is another famous temple like Brajeshwari Devi temple and Laxmi Narayan temple dedicated to Goddess Durga devi. The main deity is Chamunda Devi temple on a hill overlooking Chamba Town. Overnight stay at Dalhousie.

Day 06: Chamba-Pathankot Railway station (85 kms)

After breakfast transfer to Pathankot Railway station for onward journey.
